Abiu is a tropical fruit tree with pyramidal canopy, grows in the Amazonian region of South America, and also found in in Cuba, the Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia. It grows to an average height of 10 m; leaves 10-20 cm long, simple, alternate, oblong to elliptical; flowers small, cream or white coloured, hermaphroditic flowers, in small clusters on leaf axils. Round to elliptic, 5-12 cm long fruits.
