Buddhist Pine is a medium-sized, evergreen conifer reaching 20 m height. Strap-shaped leaves (6-12 cm), clustered, spirally arranged at the branch tip. Grey or greyish brown bark; cones borne on a short stem with 2-4 scales, usually only one fertile, each fertile scale bearing a single apical seed.
